@ Jill–That sounds really fun! I’m jealous! We had some cool stuff like that during our “Welcome Week.” My favorite was a huge bonfire at the beach with smores for everyone (they probably bought out Costco’s whole supply of marshmallows )

My upcoming orientation lasts about a week. They have a bowling night, a movie night and a bus tour of the city planned. I’m super stoked about it.

@ BoardinCali: That’s awesome that you encouraged the students to ask questions. I was pretty shy about asking questions, but I remember my mom talking to some college girls and they had a lot of great tips about gym classes & other fun/free stuff on campus that made me a little more excited for the upcoming year.

I’m so glad you wrote this! I was a Student Assistant/Adviser for a Cal State and we were in charge of the NSO. I’m glad because everything you posted is what students should do. Pay attention and ASK QUESTIONS! That’s what we were there for, no question is too small or petty. it’s a new transition, might as well make it smooth and fun right?
