Some great tips! I sure wish that my sister took this into consideration when she came back home for the summer.

This is great. I used all of these tactics to 'build myself up' at home.

Every time I came home from school I wanted to seem more and more independent, more and more adult.

Doing (what used to be) chores without being asked and cooking dinner definitely gave me huge brownie points!

I found many people escape from confronting with parents by watching TV programs or keeping busy, which is not a good way and adult behaviour. To be one part of family we need talk through if we need.

I moved back in with my parents for the summer - a huge change of pace btw. Anyway, I've been trying to be more helpful by cooking a little and cleaning up a bit.

Thanks for the advice.

Jamie,
You are so spot on with this as the parent of two adult daughters- one grad and one sophmore to be. We are restablishing our roles and this was great food for thought. Just returned from an awesome vacation where we ALL enjoyed each other for 12+ days! Yea! Now preparing for a busy dorm season. Visit my site for creative dorm bedding ideas!
