I am a cyclist at IU and we train year round, so being healthy and eating right are a really big thing for myself and the other members of my team. We always make sure to have a lot of protein and fiber in our diet. The protein is both a nutrient to help us recover and rebuild/ gain muscle the main purpose of fiber is to control appetite and help regulate your digestive system. Although we live in a fraternity house, we always try to eat greens and salads when we have a chance, especially carrots, any diet that is colorful most likely is very nutritious for you. Also lots of water is very important! since our body is mostly composed of water, it is very important to stay hydrate and always be consuming water. Being properly hydrated also helps your body digest food and transport nutrients through out your body.

One thing that really helps is eating healthy foods that feel heavy and make you feel full. For example, carrot sticks, peanuts, turkey, etc. These are foods that are relatively healthy and are not overly-caloric, and yet they stave off hunger. By contrast, starches such as rice, potato chips, and French fries are high in calories, but do not lead to a feeling of fullness. The consequences are devastating.
